This directory includes those patches released for IRIX 6.2.
Subdirectories are supplied for each supported machine type. For example,
dist/6.2/Indy contains the patches for Indy machines running IRIX 6.2.
Please install only those patches for your particular IRIX version and
hardware.
This directory contains the following sub-directories, as applicable:
all/ -> Contains all patches that are released for this version

a convienient source for patches should you encounter a

patches from here only if your problem is not solved
by the recommended/required patch set for the system.
A description of all the patches inside this directory
is listed in "all/INDEX" file.
Indy/ Recommended/required patches for each platform.
Indigo/ Please install the entire patch set. SGI subjects
Indigo2/ this combination of patches to rigorous testing.

Challenge_DM/ which may affect your problem.
Challenge_L/
Challenge_XL/
Onyx/
Octane/
Power_Indigo2/
Power_Challenge_L/
Power_Challenge_XL/
Power_Onyx/
To install recommended/required patches for the platform and OS that you are
running, run inst from a UNIX shell prompt with the following agruments:
inst -f /<CDROM>/dist/<OS>/<Platform>/
where:
<CDROM> is the mount point for the CD, i.e. CDROM.
<OS> is the OS release you are running, i.e. 6.2
<Platform> is the type of machine you have, i.e. Challenge_XL.
inst will install all applicable required/recommended patch for your system.
Patches often exist for subsystems that you do not have. These will be noted as
conflicts by inst. Resolve the conflicts by choosing not to install those
patches.
To install a particular patch listed under "all/" directory, execute
inst command:
inst -f /<CDROM>/dist/<OS>/all/<PatchNumber>/
where:
<CDROM> is the mount point for the CD, i.e. CDROM.
<OS> is the OS release you are running, i.e. 6.2.
<PatchNumber> is the specific patch number you want to install,
i.e, 1196.
A conflict here means that the patch is not applicable to your system.
